War of the Worlds

At first, a giant flash. The ground rumbled and dust surrounded the town. Thousands approached from the neighboring areas, running, screaming, burned and bloody. Gripped by overwhelming fear. From behind the dust and ashes we could see great lumbering war machines, shaking the ground with each solid move of their massive metal feet.

Over the next several days we formed small groups and tried defending our families. A futile endeavor. Their technology was advanced beyond our worst nightmares - we were bows and arrows against the lightning.

As a kid listening to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds and flicking through the album artwork, I used to imagine the Martian invasion from the perspective of the 1800s. I still long to see it. This is as close as I can get - exploring it using AI tools.
